me oh Maya

When I picked Maya up from school today I was informed that she had bitten another child on the arm over a toy.

Frankly, I was surprised it hadn't happened sooner.

As we were leaving I asked her about it.

"Taylor got bit on the arm,"  she says.

"Who bit him?"  I inquire.

"He bit him."

Uh huh.

The other day when we dropped her off at school there was a substitute teacher that she didn't like the looks of.  She stared up at her from her spot low to the ground, pointed right at her and said, "I don't want to."

(Sandi didn't really blame her.  Sandi didn't really want to either.)

Today she wanted to push the cart in the store.  I let her, taking several deep breaths.  She began barking orders at me,  "Momma!  You don't touch it!"  "Momma! Are you listening to me?"  "Momma!  Don't do that again!"

It made me want to stuff cotton in my mouth and never utter a word to my children again.
